Dear colleagues and friends,

The success of the 2011 edition of the SRATI Congress has brought us, of course, great joy, but also a challenge, that of putting together an even greater meeting in 2012, so that it meets your expectations.

Thus, we warmly invite you to join us in THE 38TH CONGRESS OF THE ROMANIAN SOCIETY OF ANAESTHESIA AND INTENSIVE CARE, that will take place during May 16th - 20th, 2012, in Sinaia, together with the traditional accompanying events: THE 6^TH ROMANIAN-FRENCH CONGRESS OF ANAESTHESIA AND INTENSIVE CARE, THE 4^TH ROMANIAN-ISRAELI SYMPOSIUM ON UPDATES IN ANAESTHESIA AND INTENSIVE CARE, THE 11^TH CONGRESS OF ANAESTHESIA AND INTENSIVE CARE NURSES, THE 10^TH CONGRESS OF THE ROMANIAN SOCIETY OF SEPSIS.

Being fully aware that   great goals can only be achieved together, we invite you all, as active members of S.R.A.T.I., to join our efforts in developing our specialty, for the benefit of the ICU staff and pacients.

The complex scientific program will mark the outstanding development of our specialty during the last period of time and we will all be honored by the presence of numerous experts from all over the world. According to the tradition set in the last few years, a special focus will be given to the educational section for residents and nurses.

THE ROMANIAN SOCIETY OF ANAESTHESIA AND INTENSIVE CARE - S.R.A.T.I. had a remarkable evolution in the recent years, becoming an active academic, scientific and professional forum that advocates for members’ interests on different levels; some relevant examples are given below:
-   Creating and imposing the sanction of a legislative document that regulates our specialty by protecting the interests of the ICU staff (Dictate 1500/2009);
-   Obtaining an increase in wages for the ICU staff;
-   Creating a program for equipping the ICU departments with specific devices;
-   Setting European standards for the Romanian ICU educational system by adopting the written exam for the European Diploma as an official part of the specialty exam and continuing, in the nearest future, with two other important steps: adopt the anaesthesia, intensive care and pain management curriculum of the European Society of Anesthesiology (ESA) as an official curriculum of the Romanian ICU specialty and include it in the specialty training program of the Basic ICU Course organized by the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM);
-   Recent signing of a cooperation agreement between S.R.A.T.I. and ESICM that will allow S.R.A.T.I. members to become ESICM members by paying a lower fee, and benefit from all the other advantages involved (access to the extremely interesting eductional programs of ESICM, access to the EICM journal etc.).

Dear colleagues, we will do our best as to offer, for this edition as well, a special social program, that will make your stay in Sinaia even more enjoyable and the SRATI National Congress what we all wish it to be: a celebration of our specialty!

Fellow colleagues,

Continuing the traditition of the SRATI events, Sinaia will be once again, in 2012, the host of the Romanian-Israeli Symposium on Updates in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, which has already reached its 4^th edition.

Together with the other organizing societies, on behalf of the Bucharest Branch of the Romanian Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, it is my great honour to invite you to join us in another celebration of the anaesthesia and intensive care progress in Romania, between the 16^_thand the 20^thof May, 2012, at the well known International Conference Center in Sinaia.

The valuable content of the scientific program, the special guests from Romania and from abroad, our friends from Israel, the specialized medical exhibition and the exquisite social program are only a few of the arguments supporting the quality of the SRATI events. For the 2012 edition, the involvement of each of us is even more valuable as only in a conjoint effort we will be able to fullfil our profession’s desideratums.

Since dialogue has always been the most simple way to knowledge, we look forward to welcoming you to the 2012 SRATI Congress in order to continue the change of experience and ideas and to present our plans for the future and our projects, built to increase the quality of our patients’ lives.

The Congress will also provide a unique opportunity to establish new relationships among our colleagues and the medical companies which will be attending the specialized exhibition. We are confident that 2012 SRATI Congress will be a remarkable event and, thus, we hereby invite you to join us in spending memorable moments together!
